Where Your Data Lives

持物 iThings is local-first: your asset data stays on your own device by default, with no ad networks and no cross-app tracking. This page explains where data is stored on each platform and what you can do to stay in control.

iOS

The iOS version is built on on-device data. If you enable iCloud sync, your data syncs through Apple iCloud/CloudKit to your personal private iCloud database — it belongs to your Apple account. The iThings team cannot sign in to your Apple ID or read anything inside it.

Android

The Android version is also local-first. If you register an account, the related account data (email, membership status, device sessions) is stored on the iThings backend at https://api.ithingsapp.com; your asset records themselves are never uploaded. Local backup files are exported and kept by you.

HarmonyOS

The HarmonyOS version shares the same account service as Android, with the same data locations. That version is still in preparation.

Anonymized settings statistics

The Android and HarmonyOS versions report anonymized settings-usage statistics to help us understand feature usage: only a random installation identifier, setting names and normalized values — never assets, notes, photos or anything you type, and never linked to your account. The iOS version does not take part. See the Privacy Policy for details.

What you can do

  • Export a backup (.chiwu, CSV, Excel) from the app at any time and keep it outside the app.
  • Delete any record in the app; manage camera, photo library and notification permissions in system settings.
  • Export backups regularly, and confirm your backup file works before switching devices.
  • To delete account-related data, contact us via Support.
